OPzV vs AGM: The Fundamental Difference
Both OPzV and AGM are VRLA batteries, but the electrolyte immobilization method creates fundamentally different performance. AGM immobilizes electrolyte in a fiberglass mat — good high-current performance but limited cycle life. OPzV uses a gel matrix — superior deep-cycle capability and 15-20 year design life versus 5-8 years for AGM.
OPzV2-400 vs Standard Gel Batteries
The OPzV2-400 uses tubular positive plates rather than flat pasted plates — the defining characteristic that distinguishes premium OPzV from standard gel.
