The Tubular Plate Technology
The OPzV2-400’s defining technical characteristic is its tubular positive plate construction. Unlike flat pasted plates used in standard AGM and gel batteries, tubular plates consist of a lead-antimony alloy spine with a gauntlet — a woven polyester bag filled with lead oxide paste. The gauntlet prevents shedding of the positive active material even after thousands of deep discharge cycles.
Gel Electrolyte System
The OPzV2-400 uses a gelled electrolyte formed by adding fumed silica to sulfuric acid. The gel immobilizes the electrolyte while maintaining ionic conductivity. This allows any installation orientation, near-zero water loss (giving 20-year design life), and natural stratification resistance.
